Story

I've been a runner for over 20 years but have never taken the plunge and run a marathon.  Given Ellen completed the Edinburgh marathon last year and I turned 40 early this year, I felt it was my time to tackle the 26.2 miles.

We lost Arthur (Ellen's Dad) to Motor Neurone Disease nearly 10 years ago so it's a cause that means a lot to us.  I'm also from Leeds and so when the inaugral Rob Burrow marathon was announced, it seemed the fitting race to enter.  Being a similar age to Rob, it's sad to see the illness take hold, but equally inspiring to see him continue to fight.  It brings back powerful memories of Arthur's battle not to let the illness define him.  A truly inspirational man.

So this is for Arthur, for Rob, and all those affected by MND.
